Weigh in Today

Well, I lost 2.8 lbs last week.  Remarkable considering I went out to eat on Wednesday and ate a HUGE rib eye steak at Taco Loco, with steamed veggies and half a roasted potato. And a nice amount of chips and salsa, and even some guacamole. Can I just say, I like Taco Loco but... my guacamole tasted better than theirs! They didn't put enough lime juice in it! (or any, I think)  How can you have avocado without lime juice? It's like they were just made for each other!!!  Oh and thursday's dinner was a box of mac and cheese, with some frozen peas mixed in and a piece of grilled chicken.  I guess I had eaten well earlier in the day, so it balanced out.

Weight Watchers is not that hard. I do have to start exercising this week. It will work better and be healthier as I'll build muscle as I'm losing fat.   I will probably start walking in the neighborhood after work.  I have a 1.5 mile route that is flat--and it takes me 30-35 minutes.
For those of you who know my neighborhood, I walk over to Madison Avenue via Quince o Street, then walk up Madison to Savoy... which I take to usually Arlington, then Arlington to either Tremont or Harlem, to Wayne, back home.   Once I get into shape, I'll take the more challenging route, which is Bronx to Madison to Salem to Main to Bronx. It's downhill on Wayne but uphill on Main and Bronx. It's only 1 mile... but there are uphill sections so it will probably take just as long and burn as many calories.  If I walk down to Capitol and then up to Bronx, it's 1.3 miles, so almost a mile and a half.

Anyway, I returned the Griddler today. I'll set the new one up tomorrow. Maiden Voyage will be some sweet turkey sausages. they were a steal. they are good til tomorrow.. so they were $1 off. I paid a little over $2 for them.  There's like 7 or 8 in the pack, so there's a lot of portions in there for very little money. I will grill the entire package, use some in a sausage and peppers and pasta dish (probably add some eggplant, also, since peppers and eggplant go so well together and with pasta!) which I will eat for dinner tomorrow and at least one lunch. I will proabably make half a box of pasta, maybe ziti-- and use it for 3-4 meals. I have the points for a a little more than 2 oz portion, so why not? Although, I could eat pasta for lunch every day and not mind it, I love pasta!  I just have to put only 4 sausages and cut them into 8 pieces each, that way, I'll know I can have 8 slices of sausages per meal.  It will all balance out for the week, anyway. I'm looking forward to this. Pasta is one of my favorites. And as long as there are LOTS of veggies mixed  in, it won't get out of hand. Anyway, whatever sausages I don't use tomorrow, I'll just wrap them individually and freeze them.  They will be fantastic in a spinach or broccoli frittata for dinner one night.

I also bought a 3/4 lb slab of Top Round steak for london broil. I Love Big Y. They had it $1.99 per lb.  Yes, Stop and Shop has it for $1.79 per pound, but you have to buy 3lbs or more.  I don't need 3 lbs of Top Round steak.  Big Y's butcher cut a nice piece of london broil in half for me and sold me the leaner of the two pieces.  3/4 lb piece. PERFECT for me for 2-3 meals. (probably 1 dinner and 2 lunches).  This is why I love Big Y. The other week, they had pork chops buy 1 get 2 free. I bought 3 lean pork chops for $2.14.  How can you beat that?  I have bought 1 hamburger patty.  I have bought 1/3 lb of ground beef. I have picked up 5 scallops for a friend of mine. I have bought 1 italian sausage there.  I have even purchased a chuck roast that they cut in half for me when it was buy one get one free.  I did one as a roast and cut the other into stew meat.  They have a serviced meat counter and they will pick up and show you every steak in the case if you ask them to, until you find the piece that you wish to purchase.  I just wish they had lamb cubes in the meat counter. I'm dying to do shish kebab. But all I need is 5-6 ounces of leg o'lamb cubes. So I can marinate them in garlic, lemon, and rosemary and skewer them skewer them and do them on the Griddler. I'm not a huge lamb fan but I think shish kebab once every few weeks can be a nice change of pace.  they had rib chops but they were VERY fatty.  Lamb Sirloin steaks (they are not really chops technically unless there is a bone) which are cut from the upper part of the rear leg are very lean and tender if you marinate them but they are VERY hard to find.  I would grab them if I ever found them.

So we'll see how the new Griddler does tomorrow. I hope it works. I nearly bought the Calphalon one tonight. It's considerably bigger, and it has a timer. But not as versatile. so I'm hoping this thing works.  We'll see.
