The heat on the new one stays on way longer than the first one. I still think it should stay hotter or stay on longer but.... honestly, I made some london broil last night and it came out really good.
Nicely browned outside, beautiful grill marks and nicely medium-rare inside. I could have lowered the heat to have it be more cooked throughout but honestly, it was PERFECT and I wish I had noted the timing for it. It was delicious. That's how I like my steak... pink inside but beautifully browned. Funny--my mom loved medium-rare meat. My dad, well-done. No pink at all. But more important than well-done inside is that it had to be well-done OUTSIDE. And how do I like my steak? How have I always liked my steak? like both of my parents! Well done outside, perfectly pink inside!!!! When dad would grill steak or burgers, we were like the 3 bears. Dad liked his WELL DONE. Mom liked hers RARE and I liked mine "Just right", Medium!
Anyway, tonight I grilled 3 pieces of chicken breast. Not even marinated. Just a very quick meal.. I poured some bottle lime juice over and sprinkled with some Southwest seasoning. Again, didn't notice the timing but it was nicely browned outside and cooked throughout but slightly moist still inside. That's exactly how you want chicken breasts cooked.
I'm not worried about eating the leftover chicken breasts. I love chicken and it will not go to waste. Lunch on top of a salad or dinner with some veggies.. either way, I'll eat it.
I made some guacamole tonight. I swear, mine is better than the guac at the Mexican restaurant I ate at last week. I prefer roasted garlic to raw though. I'll have to keep roasted garlic in the house! It was good. Lots of lime juice, chunky onions and tomatoes. I didn't use hot sauce but could have. Just chose not to. I topped my piece of chicken with some guacamole. SO tasty.
I think I have too much food in this house. I bought some Oscar Mayer ham for sandwiches, haven't even touched it (25 calories per slice of ham... 98% fat free or something like that). I won't need to buy next week.
Anyway, long story short: I think I'm keeping The Cuisinart Griddler. It's going to take a lot will power not to eat another piece of chicken, that's how good it turned out tonight! I might never bake chicken breasts again!!!
